WITITJ HEALING

               About

Aim of this website is to help Balandas, like myself, learn more about and understand

that ancient and modern human art of healing and reconcilliation,

which is traditionally of

Wititj, Rainbow Serpent of the Galpu clan of NE Arnhem Land.

This healing is of the Earth and is known and taught by Galpu Elders.

It is in fact  a natural healing-process; one that will probably last forever...

Therefore, by and by, this website will be updated and as time goes by become more comprehensive.

So I ask you to please bear with me. Feedback, of course, is very welcome.

With respect for and faith in our laws and cultures, our ways of life and our common future.

    22 June 1995

From: Address to be given by the Speaker of the Dutch Upper House of the States General during the luncheon given at the Carlton Beach Hotel by the Dutch branch of the Australian Business in Europe (ABIE) organisation

"Ladies and Gentlemen,

«A country at once so young and yet so old, so far away and yet to familiar, such a country cannot but have a great fascination for the inhabitants of the Old Word.»

I am quoting from the speech given by Her Majesty the Queen during her state visit to Australia in October 1988. This fascination is certainly true of the inhabitants of that small piece of the old world which is so much younger than Australia, not as a nation but as a land. I am of course referring to the Netherlands. ...

This year sees the 390th anniversary of the landing by Willem Jansz from «de Duyfken» in northern Australia after a voyage by way of New Guinea. ... The original Dutch name for Australia – New Holland – was short-lived. At that time in any event the Dutch were traders, not colonists. As a settlement, Australia was still several sizes too large for the Dutch. And, if the truth be told, the country did not attract the «Chinese of the North» when they discovered – to quote one contemporary source – «pitiable persons who lacked even rice». In those days, the Dutch were concerned to build and maintain a trading network at minimal expense. This was the aim of the shareholders of the Dutch East Indies Company (the VOC).

I think you will agree it was a modern approach...."

Statement to the Government

From the oldest of the Arnhem land tribal leaders, Dr Gawirrin Gumana AO

Of Gangan, May 21 2009

"...I am an Aboriginal from mud, red mud.

I am black, I am red, I am yellow, and I will not take my people from here to be in these other places.

We want to stay on our own land. We have our culture, we have  our law, we have our land rights, we have our painting and carving, we have our stories from our old people, not only my people, but everyone, all Dhuwa and Yirritja, we are not making this up.

I want you to listen to me Government.

I know you have got the money to help our Homelands. But you also know there is money to be made from Aboriginal land.

You should trust me, and you should help us to live here, on our land, for my people.

I am talking for all Yolngu now.

So if you can’t trust me Government, if you can’t help me Government, come and shoot me, because I will die here before I let this happen."
